About Our Firm
For the attorneys at Malone & Nelson, Tuscaloosa is home. Both Chuck Malone and Mark Nelson were raised in Tuscaloosa, attended The University of Alabama, and started their law practices here after graduating from law school. Despite Chuck’s career taking him from private practice to the Governor’s office to the Supreme Court and back to the bench in Tuscaloosa, Mark remains in the same building where he was hired as a new lawyer and has continued operating the title company, Southeastern Land & Title, Inc., that he and Chuck started in 1999.

Firm Becomes Family
When Chuck Malone graduated law school, he began practicing with his stepfather and brother, making it a family business. Shortly after the new Malone & Nelson was established in 2016, the tradition of family practice continued when Chuck’s son Chase Malone joined the firm. Though Chuck and Chase share a family tree, attorneys Mark Nelson and Jessica Schaub have been adopted into the family, with Mark first practicing with Chuck over 24 years ago and Jessica joining the firm after serving as Chuck’s judicial assistant and staff attorney while he was Circuit Judge.
Civic Engagement
Malone & Nelson not only boasts a rich history of practicing with one another in their hometown but of civic engagement in their community. From Mark’s involvement with the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education and his service as County Commissioner to Chuck’s time as Presiding Circuit Judge, Malone & Nelson are devoted to giving to their community as leaders, advocates, and servants.
